Parking app problems infuriate local drivers
Geelong council's parking app is under fire over a litany of complaints, with many drivers saying they have been charged multiple times for single parking sessions.
But the city says that despite its faults the app is here to stay, and drivers who are unhappy with it will just have to use other payment options.
Many drivers have complained the software frequently double or even triple-charges their credit cards, and while the money is eventually refunded, it often takes days or weeks.
Others say valid credit cards have been rejected, only to be honoured on subsequent attempts minutes later.
Sometimes charges are applied even though the app tells users their card has been rejected.
Drivers have also told Geelong Broadcasters they have been forced to challenge fines issued by council officers even after paying for their parking via the app.
