Scam warning: ‘Council never sends parking tickets by email’

A new scam email which tries to trick people into paying a fake parking ticket is the latest to hit Orange residents.

Orange City Council’s customer service team took five calls from local residents on Wednesday who received the scam messages in their email inbox.

Council spokesperson Nick Redmond said the email gave the impression it was a parking fine from the council.

“Our customer service team was able to quickly make it clear it was a scam,” Nick Redmond said.
