CouncilFirst is pleased to welcome Croydon Shire Council in Far North Queensland to our growing community of local government partners.

Located in Queensland's Gulf Savannah region, Croydon is a geographically vast and uniquely regional local government area. While home to a population of approximately 300 people, Council itself employs around 70 staff members, with roles subject to seasonal work programs, reflecting the breadth of services and responsibilities required to support the community.

Looking to the future

As Council looked to the future, modernising the technology supporting its operations had become a key priority.

Its previous financial management software was creating limitations across planning, reporting, and transparency. At the same time, Council was looking to improve digital access, budgeting, and operational agility, while responding to growing requirements for stronger financial governance and more data-driven management.

The opportunity, therefore, was about more than simply replacing a legacy system. Establishing a modern ERP environment that better supports how Croydon operates today, while creating stronger foundations for the future, became the goal.

Through its partnership with CouncilFirst, Croydon Shire Council will transition to an integrated ERP platform designed specifically for Australian local government, supporting greater access to information, more effective reporting, and stronger visibility across its operations.

For a regional council balancing broad responsibilities with finite resources, the ability to access reliable information and work efficiently across core business functions is particularly important. The new environment will provide Council with an opportunity to streamline its internal operations while strengthening the information and governance foundations that support effective decision-making.

The partnership reflects Croydon Shire Council's commitment to investing in technology that not only addresses the limitations of legacy systems but also supports a more agile, connected, and data-informed organisation in the future.
