Partnership Story

Karoonda Silo Art CouncilFirst ERP Local Government Solution

District Council of Karoonda East Murray Partners with CouncilFirst to Bring Key Business Functions Together

The District Council of Karoonda East Murray has partnered with CouncilFirst to modernise its core business systems, moving towards a single, integrated platform that better supports day-to-day work across the organisation.

Located in South Australia's Murray Mallee region, the District Council of Karoonda East Murray serves a network of rural communities across more than 4,400 square kilometres. Known for its rich agricultural heritage, strong community spirit and resilient regional character, the district plays an important role in supporting farming enterprises, local businesses and residents throughout the region.

The district is home to the well-known Karoonda Silo Art and is surrounded by productive grain-growing country. While it has a strong rural identity, the Council has also taken a practical, future-focused approach to supporting its communities and delivering services.

Building Strong Foundations

Managing services across such a large area with a small population means the Council needs to work efficiently and make the most of its resources.

By moving to a single, integrated platform, staff will spend less time switching between systems and more time focusing on the work that matters to the community.

Bringing key business functions together into a single environment will help the Council manage information more easily, improve consistency across teams, and build future capability.

Why CouncilFirst

Karoonda was looking for more than just a software provider. It wanted a partner with a real understanding of how local government works.

CouncilFirst’s experience working with councils, along with the flexibility of the Microsoft platform, gave the Council confidence that the new system would meet its needs now and into the future.

This approach also fits with the Council’s focus on practical, sustainable improvements that benefit both staff and the wider community over the long term.

Looking Ahead

This project represents an important investment in Karoonda’s future.

As the implementation progresses, staff will adopt modern tools that help simplify everyday tasks, improve access to information, and drive better-planned outcomes across the Council.

We’re looking forward to working alongside the District Council of Karoonda East Murray as it continues to strengthen its operations and deliver services across the Murray Mallee region.
