Partnership Story
CouncilFirst partners with the Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku to support modern, connected local government operations
We’re pleased to announce that CouncilFirst is partnering with the Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku, a unique and geographically vast local government authority located in Western Australia’s Goldfields–Esperance region.
Covering almost 160,000 square kilometres and supporting ten remote communities across the Central Desert, the Shire delivers a wide range of local government and essential services across some of the most remote and culturally significant lands in Australia. With no formal townsites and a community of interest contained within the traditional lands of the Ngaanyatjarra people, the Shire operates in a highly distinct local government environment.
As part of its ongoing commitment to improving day-to-day operations and supporting staff across its dispersed workforce, the Shire identified the need to modernise its core systems and processes. Legacy technology and fragmented systems were creating inefficiencies and increasing the administrative burden on a small team.
The Shire is transitioning to CouncilFirst’s fully integrated ERP platform, which will bring key functions under one central system to improve visibility, streamline workflows, and support stronger governance and compliance.
CouncilFirst provides a modern, secure, cloud-based platform that is well-suited to regional and remote councils. For the Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku, the ability to centralise records, streamline payroll, and support future workforce growth were key priorities.
With the Shire relying on funding and grants to deliver services and programs across its communities, demonstrating strong governance, compliance, and return on investment is critical. Investing in modern systems reflects the Shire’s commitment to responsible stewardship of public funds and to delivering positive, measurable outcomes for its communities.
CouncilFirst was selected not only for its technology, but for its exclusive focus on Australian local government and its partnership-led approach. The Shire recognised the value of working with a vendor that understands the unique operational, compliance, and resourcing challenges faced by councils operating in remote environments.
Through this partnership, the Shire of Ngaanyatjarraku aims to create a more connected and efficient working environment for staff, reducing administrative overheads and enabling teams to focus on delivering services that matter most to their communities.
We look forward to working closely with the Shire as it embarks on this important step in its digital transformation journey.
